Question from one of my Blogging 101 students:

I visited my blog URL ( http://myusername.wordpress.com) it takes me to my blog but allows me into the administration dashboard of my blog.  How do I prevent visitors from getting into that?

Answer:

If you mean that it let’s you see the admin login area allowing you into the Dashboard, that’s because you have saved your login information (your probably checked the “Remember Me” option) in your browser when you first logged into the wp-admin page.  That will only happen from your machine. Your visitors should not see it.  Try your URL from a different machine and you’ll see what I mean.

Question from one of my Blogging 101 students today:

Answer:

You can give them the URL (Web address) for the blog.
If you create a Blogger account it would be:

http://yourusername.blogspot.com

and for WordPress account it would be:

http://yourusername.wordpress.com

where “username” would be the username you used to setup the account.

If you have a domain name, e,g, yourdomain.com, you can set it up and point it to the blog so users can go to www.yourdomainname.com and visit your blog.

If you blog is hosted on it’s own server (eg. like HostGator) you can use your domain name for the site, www.yourdomain.com or www.yourdomain.com/blog or any combination you like around the domain name, AND you can have all standard Web site features included such as full domain e-mail accounts (anything@yourdomain.com), message boards, etc.

Windows 7 Logo

Just finished installing Windows 7 Release Candidate for testing and review. I installed it on my Sony VAIO notebook in an “dual boot” configuration. The notebook has been running Windows Vista and now when in boots up, I have an option of loading Vista or Windows 7. I haven’t spent too much time on Windows 7 since I installed an earlier beta release, so I’m really looking forward to putting Windows 7 through it’s paces and reporting back here to my readers.
